learn guitar songs by using a capo

If you have ever wanted to learn a few songs on the guitar but didn’t want to put in a lot of time consider using a capo. Using a guitar capo allows you to use open tuning chords any where on the neck. Doing this means you can easily change keys without learning new fingering.

A capo is just a clamp that acts as the nut. In the standard open tuning your hi and low string are E but by using a capo on the third fret you can jump them up to G. I find that even boring old progressions that I have played a thousand times come to life again simply by playing them a little higher on the neck.

Even if a song wasn’t originally written in a key that required a capo chances are it can be played in one. This is great news because it dramatically shortens the learning curve. Singers can concentrate more on the song as a whole rather then trying to play it correctly.

If you are a song writer you will love using a capo. It frees you up to jump to any key with out having to play the song any differently. If you really like something you wrote but want to see how it feels a few intervals higher, just slide the capo up a few frets.

When it comes to which capo to use, it is hard to go wrong. There are a lot out there varying in cost and quality but know that you will get what you pay for. I have used a Keyser for a number of years but a new design by G7th has been gaining popularity. Everyone is bound to have a personal preference but what ever style you decide to go with know that you will love to play with a capo.

So stop reading pick up a capo and start making some wonderful music.
